I am an education policy researcher interested in how policy shifts and evolving organizational contexts impact educators and students. In my research, I use quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches to investigate the intersection of educational policy and educator labor markets, with a particular emphasis on teacher and school leader career pathways.Â
My current projects include studies on Pre-K teachers and leaders in public elementary schools, the role of external teacher contracts in public education, and the relationship between district structures and the career progression of school leaders.
I am currently leveraging administrative data sets, survey data, and interview data to investigate educator labor markets in Pre-K-5 spaces. My dissertation research explores the labor market responses to the inclusion of Pre-K into elementary schools and the experiences of teachers and leaders in these spaces.
I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at Vanderbilt University. Before beginning my studies at Vanderbilt, I taught elementary school in Boston and New Orleans.
